With so much disease in the world today , it seems that everyone has had at least one close friend or family member affected by one type of cancer or another.  Cancer is one of the top health risks in the world, affecting so many people no matter what their age or gender.  I have had several loved ones in my life who have had to face the battle of all that comes with this ugly disease.  Some of wich have won the battle and others who weren’t so lucky.

The most inspirational story of all would be that of my Grandmother.  My Grandma was a seemingly healthy person, living a good life and one day with no warning was hit with the horrible news from her doctor that life had taken a turn.  In June of 2013 she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of endometrial cancer.  Things moved very fast from the moment she discovered she was sick, the cancer was very aggressive.   In less than 2 months time it seemed the doctors and nurses had given up,  she was now too weak to continue any sort of treatment plan.  My families world had been turned upside down.  Unbelievably it was my Grandma who stayed strong til the end.   She held her head up high and tried to prepare everyone for what was to come.  Not living in the same city as her was devastating.  I wanted to be there for her and the rest of  my family, I couldn’t believe that this was the end.  There had to be something else we could do or someone else that could help.  Then one day her GP took a stand and said this isn’t it, we are going to fight!  And within weeks he had her relocated to a better hospital with better doctors that specialized in cancer.  By December of that year she was cancer free and still is today!  My Grandma is truly an inspirational person, had she not been so determined and strong-willed,  she may not be with us today.  I love her with all my heart, her journey has taught me the true value of life and that we should live each day to its fullest.  As you never know what day may be your last.
