Good nutrition has a very important role in your life when leading a healthy lifestyle. When combined with exercise, good nutrition can help you reach and maintain a healthy weight. It also helps reduce risk of disease, boosts energy, improves mood, and promotes great overall health.
Here are the three main reasons that I eat healthy:
1. Health – This is the most important reason to eat healthy, it helps you to stay in peak condition. What you put in your mouth everyday has an enormous impact on your overall health. Eating fiber will lower cholesterol and blood pressure and can prevent certain types of cancers. Fresh fruits and vegetables are very high in antioxidants which protect against a variety of diseases. You can also protect yourself from cardiovascular disease, by incorporating healthy unsaturated fats into your diet.
2. Weight Loss – Making healthy choices will encourage weight loss, because switching from unhealthy pre-packaged junk to a healthier alternative will always reduce your calorie intake. Junk food is made up of empty calories: foods high in energy but lacking nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber. Start making smarter choices today. Replace the office doughnuts, sugary drinks, candy, and fast food with healthier choices like fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, beans, lean meats and whole grains. Replacing all these bad foods with good ones will cut your calories and put you on the right path to weight loss.
3. Energy – Eating the right foods each day will give you with the long-lasting energy your body needs, to perform optimally throughout the day. Where eating junk food will only create a big spike in energy levels followed by an even bigger crash. All foods containing high sugar content will cause these crashes as they are digested very quickly. Healthier foods need a much longer digestion period allowing a slower, more stable release of energy without the unwanted crash.
