We all want the same thing.   To achieve perfection!   We can all have that smooth, flawless complexion if we follow the right steps.

First step to a smooth complexion is to exfoliate regularly.  Next step we need to moisturize.   I like to apply my moisturizer and allow it to absorb into my skin for a few minutes before moving onto the next step ( this prevents too much build up, especially if layering multiple products).   Lastly I always apply a good primer to my skin before my foundation, the primer works as a base to prolong wear of your makeup and preps your skin for smoother application of your foundation.

Here are 3 of the best primers that I have tried!

Benefit POREfessional

This primer is by far my favourite.  This product is a oil-free pore minimizing primer.  It also contains vitamin E to help protect your skin from free radicals.  The POREfessional primer is silky, and lightweight and goes on smoother than any other primer that I have tried.  I find my skin feeling smooth and has a matte finish after application.  At the end of the day my skin is still shine free!

Smashbox photo finish oil-free foundation primer

This Smashbox primer is a very close comparison to my first pick (Benefit POREfessional) it is a non drying formula that absorbs oil and controls shine all day.  It helps to blur and reduce the appearance imperfections and pores and goes on smooth.  This primer also did a good job of controlling the shine all day, I just found the Benefit primer to be slightly silkier in consistency. I would recommend both products equally.  Brand choice, price or availability would all be likely deciding factors.

  1. This drugstore brand primer is definitely easier on your wallet, ringing in under $10, but I wouldn’t recommend if you are looking to control shine.  I have used this product several times, it goes on smooth and appears to slightly blur pores and imperefections but it didn’t work to control shine for me.  Baby skin worked as a good base for foundation, but if you are looking for a well rounded product with multiple benefits  I would try the Smashbox or  Benefit versions.

  1. I love, love, love my Smashbox primer! I was even lucky enough to score some at Winners instead of my usual Sephora shop 🙂
